New Daily Lesson Plan Format
Skills Explained
Last week I introduced the new format for the daily lesson plans, (since most parents asked for the structure of a daily schedule in the poll I took on Class Dojo). Remember that this is a suggested schedule, so you can still have the flexibility to move things around and push things back as you wish. I don't check Wonders assignments until Saturdays so that I can give all students the chance to get everything submitted. (Even though there may be a "due date" set, assignments don't expire until Friday night.) Keep in mind though, that each day that goes by without doing assignments in Wonders will push to the following day by default.
The second page will be a run down of the skills of the week for both Wonders and Go Math. It also  includes screenshots of how to log in and get math resources. I highly recommend that you watch the video tutorial that I made that explains this.
Last, I included a page with direct links to the art and science may do's for the week, as well as the weekly Flipgrid.

In iRead, when I check in daily, I see which students need more practice with certain skills (if any). If your student needs additional practice, I will be assigning these skills on one of the lighter work load days (typically toward the end of the week). If you feel like there is a skill that they are struggling with, please let me know and I can do a mini lesson for them. The guideline for 1st grade distance learning is 1 to 1.5 hours per day. If any daily assignment goes beyond this, feel free to have them stop for the day. Remember that the bottom portion of the lesson plans are May Dos, meaning optional. Students should do all of their Must Do's first. Students are doing a fabulous job and I am so proud of them! I hope you are all well. As always, please let me know if you have any questions. :)

Week 2 Distance Learning - MATH introduction

Sunday, April 12, 2020
We did it! Week one of distance learning is in the books! What will week 2 look like? Very much like week 1, except math curriculum is introduced this week. Have no fear, because accessing it will be simple! If you watched my "how to" video on navigating through distance learning, I went over how to access the math. To access it on my Tovashal website, click on "links" (it will have an arrow next to it) then you will see "Go Math Curriculum Site". This is what you want. Click that, and everything is right there. Students will click on "Math on the Spot" for the days lesson, then print the days lesson pages. You do not need to submit this to me. For writing, this week they have 3 days worth of topics that I have given them and 2 days of free writes. Again, this will not be submitted or graded. Students need to make sure that they are doing all of the MUST Dos with the red asterisks next to them. Everything else listed on the lesson plans or other links are optional suggestions. iRead and Wonders are tracked online by me. I can also track iReady online if students do that as a may do. Thank you for reading all of my messages. I want to keep you all updated as I learn new things. My office hours are 9 am-12 pm Monday-Friday. I can typically get back to you pretty quickly even outside of those hours M-F, but I do have several virtual professional developments, staff and grade level meetings, and trainings to attend throughout the day as well. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a terrific week!

Distance learning Week 1

Monday, April 6, 2020
Distance Learning is in full swing! I have heard from many of you that things went very well today and that students have logged into programs and completed their work successfully for day 1. Thank you for your hard work and commitment! If you haven't already done so, please watch the video on my Tovashal teacher webpage. That will answer a lot of questions on how to navigate through this. To find my teacher webpage, go to the Tovashal page. Click "Teachers", then click on my name. On the left side you will find all of the links. Please be sure to click on the little arrows next to the headings...they will expand more options. As always, let me know if you have questions and I will help.
